Fisher's Garage, a brief history of a family legacy.

Fisher's Garage is a family-owned business with a rich history dating back to 1964 when Hilary Alton Fisher II, affectionately known as "Pops," decided to start his own automotive repair shop. After returning from military service with the U.S. Army during and after the Korean War, Pops purchased a property where the shop now stands, intending to work from home.

Initially, Fisher's Garage was a one-man operation. Pops started repairing cars in the front yard, gradually expanding from a carport under an oak tree to a two-bay shop that he built himself. In the early 1970s, Pops was joined by his son, H.A. Fisher III, known as Alton, and their cousin Larry Fisher. Together, they helped the shop grow and thrive.

As Greenville expanded over the years, so did Fisher's Garage. By 1992, when Pops retired, the shop had become a six-bay operation, employing several family members and other staff. Alton, drawing on the principles instilled by his father, took over the business, maintaining the traditions of honesty and hard work.

In 1996, Hillary's grandchildren began joining the business, continuing the family legacy. In 2004, Hillary's grandson, J.P. Cooper, became the third generation of the family to operate the shop. Under his leadership, Fisher's Garage expanded further, now boasting 10 bays, a full tire and alignment shop, and employing 14 staff members.

Throughout its 60-year history, Fisher's Garage has upheld its commitment to honesty, quality, and fair prices, as instilled by Pops. The business has come a long way since its humble beginnings, and the family is dedicated to serving the Greenville community for many years to come.
